Emergencies

EmergenciesDental emergencies are always inconvenient. There is simply no way to plan for an accident. Sometimes, things happen and you need to see a dentist for immediate, reparative treatment. That is why at Holler Family Dentistry, we always do our best to see patients in times of need – with or without an appointment.

What Counts as a Dental Emergency?

In some cases, you might experience an accidental injury and be able to wait a few days for treatment. For instance, if you chip a tooth and do not feel any pain, you may not need immediate emergency care. In other situations, dental injuries can cause extreme pain, trauma, and damage. When this happens, it is important to see a dentist as soon as possible.
A few examples of a dental emergency include:

· A broken, cracked, or fractured tooth
· A lost tooth
· Uncontrollable bleeding in the mouth, or
· Severe pain or toothache.

If you have experienced a dental injury and are in pain, call your dentist right away. Immediate treatment is the best way to prevent long-term problems.

I Have a Toothache, What Should I Do?

Toothaches and oral pains are not normal. Pain is often the sign of an underlying problem. If you are experiencing pain in or around your mouth, call your dentist as soon as possible. If you are suffering from extreme amounts of pain, let us know that you are experiencing a dental emergency. We will do what we can to get you in as soon as possible.

Something Happened to My Tooth – What Do I Do?

If you have cracked, fractured, or broken a tooth, call us immediately. Even if you are not in a lot of pain, your tooth may be suffering from internal damage. Seeking treatment as soon as an accident happens is the best way to save your tooth and prevent other dental problems from occurring. If you have lost an adult tooth, we may be able to save it. First, pick it up and gently rinse it with water. You can place the tooth back in your mouth between your gums and cheek, or you can put it in a glass of milk. With timely care, Dr. Holler may be able to save your tooth.
